The Office of the Tax Collector is where property tax bills are paid. You should direct all billing inquiries to this department.
Deductions
Senior Citizens Annual Property Tax Deduction: Annual deduction of $250.00 from property taxes for homeowners age 65 or older or disabled who have been in their home since October 1 of the pretax year, and whose income is less than $10,000/year, after a permitted exclusion of one of the following:
Social Security Benefits
Federal Government Retirement/Disability Pension State, County, Municipal Government Pension
Veterans Deduction: Annual deduction of $250.00 from property taxes for qualified war veterans and their unmarried surviving spouses who have been in their home as of October 1 of the pretax year.
Forms for the above may be obtained from the tax collector or tax assessor.

Grace Period: 10 days (to the 10 th of the due month)
Interest Rate: 8% on the first $1500.00 and 18% on all delinquencies thereafter
6% Year End Penalty on all balances (including interest) over $10,000.00 as of 12/31 Tax Sale: Properties are subject to Tax Sale if Prior Year taxes are delinquent.
Billing: Taxes are billed once a year after all budgets are adopted, usually the end of June or beginning of July.
Added Assessment Bills are for improvements made after October 1st of the pretax year and before September 1st of the current year. These bills are due on November 1st along with the original bill received in June or July. Homeowners with added assessments will be paying with two (2) bills through the second quarter of the following year. You may combine figures on one check.
New Property Owners: When ownership of property changes, the tax bill is to be forwarded to the new homeowner. If you have not received a bill within a reasonable amount of time after purchase, please call the Tax Collectors office for information.
In order to remove a deceased person from our records, we need a copy of a death certificate.
